Andrew fills his photographs with light, saturating the viewer’s senses with color and life. By packing every corner of his scenes with energy – whether calm and subdued, rustic and familiar, or majestically awesome – Andrew opens the door to a fourth dimension in which to reconsider the world around us. His photographs tell the stories of spaces: unoccupied, still, almost waiting. Time, in its broadest context, takes a backseat to the immediacy of the moment. The day, month, and even year falls aside: the only time that matters can only be estimated by the position of the sun. Andrew embraces all available methods in order to enhance his works. He pushes his photographs to their very limit, never exhausting them, but rather drawing out their deepest potential.
Welcome and thank you for stopping by to look at my fine art photography. Come along and join me on my journey to explore the natural world. This compilation of photographs is not my attempt to define consensus reality, but rather to share my stylized vision of the world that was shaped by the emotion I felt at the time of capture. Nature provides the beautiful landscape and atmosphere, I do my best to capture and enhance it to give the viewer a glimpse of the world as I see it.
I was born and raised in rural Central Montana. Nearly every weekend while I was growing up was spent with family exploring the many natural wonders of the region. We would take long drives and hikes deep into the mountains where we would sit and watch the wildlife and scenery. I was always fascinated with the way scenes would seemingly change before my eyes as the sun would set and the light would dance along the Montana skyline. This exposure to nature created a big impact on me. I would often take mental snapshots of the beautiful scenes I witnessed and remembered them often. To this day, many scenes from those early days stick with me and continue to influence my artwork.
This is a very exciting time in the world of photography. Never before has there been so many tools available for artists to bring their imaginations to life to share with others. With modern camera technology and the digital darkroom, the artist has seemingly limitless tools at their disposal to create stunning images that convey a story or emotional attachment to a scene. To me, photography and artwork in general, is all about the creativity involved. I think of myself as an artist who has chosen photography as my medium of choice. I did so because of the rapid advancement of digital technology that has allowed my creativity to soar. It used to be that photography was limited to the few individuals who had the camera, film, and darkroom expertise that was required. Now that almost everyone has a phone capable of taking, editing and sharing pictures at the touch of a button, the world of photography has been opened up to everyone for immediate self-expression.
All of my artwork is available as fine art prints and for commercial licensing. I do commissioned art pieces and will also work with interior designers and art consultants on corporate projects.
